Picasso

A woman was strolling along  a street in Paris, when she spotted Picasso sketching at a sidewalk cafe.

The woman asked Picasso if he might sketch her, and charge accordingly.

Picasso obliged.  In just minutes, there  she was: an original Picasso. ”

And what do I owe you?  she asked.

“Five thousand francs,” he answered.

“But it only took you three minutes,” she politely reminded him.

“No,” Picasso said.  “It took me all my life.”

So, what does this mean about your pricing??

  1. YES! that is the attitude we need to spread around! Love it, I’m carrying that thought with me now.

I would say that it should not be based off how long it takes, it is what you have worked for????

  3. Value should not be purely based on time or your costs of goods sold.

What is she had said “But you drew it on a two cent sheet of paper.”. You are not buying the paper.

If you had the cure for breast cancer written on the back of a WalMart receipt, how much would it be worth? Surely, its not the price of the paper or how long it took you to figure out.

    Just a few thoughts.

  4. YES! So many clients (cheap ones) compare your prices to the cost of the paper it is to print them on and not that you are selling a piece of ART!!!
