StudioCloud

I just signed up for StudioCloud… a web-based studio management application. $25 a month.

I wanted web-based b/c I work out of my studio and my home. I can also log in with my iphone. Pretty slick.

I compared it to ShootQ and StudioCloud does a MUCH better job with database management.

ShootQ seems to be designed for the wedding photographer.  ShootQ does not even have a field for birthdates. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with them today telling them how they could improve the software for portrait studios. I was totally impressed that they cared enough to ask for my opinion.

StudioCloud seems to be better suited for portrait photographers and wedding photographers.

I signed up for the basic suite.

It has a very sleek interface.

It has an interface you can put on your website so leads are automatically entered into your system for you. Then, you can track your follow up process.

It has a workflow interface too where clients can log in and see the progress of their order or change their information such as email or mailing addresses. I most likely won’t use that feature but its there.

It has a great relational data base. You can see who is related to who, who referred who, what school they go to, which church, blah blah blah

One thing it does NOT do YET is… I want it to alert me when its someone’s birthday or anniversary a couple weeks prior to it. This will be included in a future release they assured me.

Like I said, I just got started with it.

I will continue to post my impressions of the application.

George

PS Do you use StudioCloud – got any advice?

I will go and try it out.  I was getting ready to create an Access database, but this sounds much easier.

  2. @Renee Churchill:

They have a 30 day free trial and are VERY helpful on the phone!
