Photography Tip: Does It Frustrate You?

One HUGE catalyst to feeling overwhelmed and stressed is an environment (and annoying little things) that is not “working well for you”.

If reading this list FRUSTRATES YOU, you need to take some action in your life. (See assignment below!)

Here are a few things to think about:

  1. Is your supply drawer out of control?
  2. Lots of dead things with dead batteries laying around?
  3. Are the photos of your OWN kids not up to date?
  4. Is the artwork on your wall THE artwork you want?
  5. Are the momentos hanging around things you REALLY want to keep?
  6. Is your computer set up the way you want it?
  7. Are you missing a program you really need?
  8. Are you using a trial version of a program thats driving you nuts?
  9. Are your plants alive?
  10. Is your computer too slow costing you LOTS of time?
  11. Are you constantly rebooting?
  12. Are you constantly searching for stuff?
  13. Are you constantly looking WHERE something is ON your computer?
  14. Look at your desk RIGHT NOW, what is ON you desk that should NOT be there?
  15. Are you constantly checking your email?
  16. Are you constantly saying, “I should do this or that or yonder”?
  17. Are you living in a world of constant, instant, unrelenting communication? Is this unrestricted access to you killing your time?
  18. Do you START appointments with an END time already in mind?
  19. How much more could you get done IF you checked email just ONCE or TWICE a day only?
  20. Did you interruptions robs you of at least 20-30 minutes? It takes that long to get back in the “flow”.
  21. Do you set aside ME time to go play? Play time with spouse? Playtime with kids?
  22. Do you over commit/over book your time?
  23. You can’t keep everything in your mind – get it OFF your mind. Creates lists, thinking boards, delegate more things, …
  24. Are you cleaning your own home? Could you take that 90 minutes you would be cleaning and HIT THE STREETS meeting other business owners and seeing how you can cross promote? Could you learn more to earn more in that 90 minutes?
  25. What are the negative consequences to over stress, over booking, lack of time, … I’ll tell you! Lost clients b/c of mistakes, panic, embarrassment, late fees, …
  26. Did you know a 15 minute break is so VITAL? It takes your brain 15 minutes to cool down. Take breaks. Go for a brisk walk. It does wonders.
  27. FYI, you can’t do EVERYTHING yourself.
  28. If you don’t enjoy it (or aren’t good at it), outsource it!
  29. Is your hair the way you want it?
  30. Do you feel comfortable with your wardrobe?
  31. Do you have the shoes you want or need?
  32. Finally, does your office look like a BOMB went off?

Disorganized leads to LACK OF CREATIVITY! A clear mind is crucial to creative thought.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:

The Premise: These things are sucking energy out of your life! They stop you from being productive.

  1. Write down 25 – 50 little things that BUG you (Example: Need new shoes, computer is slow, list software you need, desktop files unorganized, storage closet a mess, have not taken spouse on date in a long long time, need to change the air filters in the house, … ) Get it ALL off your MIND and down on PAPER.
  2. Decide how you will eliminate them!
  • You fix it ASAP as if your life depended on it
  • Create a budget to get rid of it
  • Decide you will put with it
