Going to a three day SMS Conference
Posted | 2 comments
I am attending a three day BUSINESS seminar from SMS. SMS Link
I had a two hour consultation with the PPA CPA about my business financials on Thursday. I had to submit three years of financials. It was then compared to the bechmark numbers.
I went in scared but came out with a big ole smile.
She was impressed by my profit margins, cost containment, and growth.
I have already doubled my 2008 net income by June 2009. So, half way through the year and I have doubled what I cleared last year.
I hope to come out of this seminar with some new insights into growing a more profitable photography business.
Personally, I am not consistently hitting my goal for the number of sessions I want to photograph each month. My averages are fantastic but I want more sessions and even better averages.
I’ll report back soon!
George

What Two Members Said…
"George, I just wanted to let you know I subscribed to your photography training site a little less than a week ago, (I'm almost half-way through your previous videos) and after watching them, I had the girl I hired watch them.
After watching the very first sales video (1 VIDEO!) She increased her first sale by $400 by selling a large wall portrait! Thanks so much for this site and it has already paid for itself many times over.
Dena Howard"
"George, Your photography training site has helped me to get my first $1800 sale from a family session.
I used to do the online gallery and with your help, I changed my pricing, added albums, make suggestions for wall collections and go to the clients house for the preview session.
Kim Ortiz "

- Kim T Ortiz: That is awesome.

What goals do you have each month for your number of sessions? Do you have like so many family, seniors, kids sessions you want to do, or just an overall number per week goal? Has the economy affected your business at all (e.g. are you photographing less than usual — even if your averages are still high)?
Thanks, as always!

@Dena:
YTD I have doubled my entire 2008 numbers. My net profit is 47%.
Ann Montieth recommended me to the director of the PPA magazine to do a “Spotlight on Member” article. She said my numbers and percentages were outstanding and my business should serve as role model for others. I beat the benchmark numbers in most cases and in a couple cases, I crushed the percentages. HOW COOL IS THAT!
I am NOT reaching my number of session goals per week but my averages are doing great and I keep my expenses low.
My PERSONAL goal is to do $250,000/yr in revenue. I think as a one man show, that is attainable.
I am really going to start hammering in on getting more sessions. I have a couple direct mail pieces that will be mailed. I will share them in DETAIL with you guys along with the results.
My video training is going to focus on increasing your revenue, dropping your expenses, and keeping more from every sale. It might feel like I am yelling at you but I saw this week just how many people are struggling in photography. It does NOT have to be that way.
